When travelling to STP the following general health precautions are advised:  

• Yellow fever  - vaccine exemption for European foreigners.
• use insect repellents, 
• do not ingest raw foods 
• Do not drink usafe water ( non-bottled water).
• Hepatitis: the vaccine against Hepatitis B is recommended for long periods of stay.
• Malaria : The Government of São Tomé and Príncipe has undertaken a hughe effort to eradicate malaria that constituted the greatest public health risk. Currently, the prevalence rate of malaria is already low, which makes S. Tomé and Príncipe an area of moderate risk.
