Praia Micondo

Micondo Beach -  calm, warm waters, and scenic landscapes

Travellers enjoy this secluded and beautiful beach destination, characterized by calm, warm waters, and scenic landscapes. Families and friends have found this spot ideal for spending quality time together. Travellers often describe the beach as a paradise, perfect for picnics and basking in a tropical climate with a unique and deserted feel. The natural surroundings, including a verdant backdrop and crystalline waters, have left guests with a sense of awe.

Access to the beach can be challenging, with some mentioning the necessity of using a 4x4 vehicle to navigate the poor conditions of the roads.

While many visitors have enjoyed the tranquillity and exceptional beauty of the beach – with its fine sand and inviting ocean – the lack of beach facilities such as bars has been noted. The area is also reported as intermittently littered, particularly on weekends when it becomes more crowded. Safety considerations, such as vigilant monitoring to prevent thefts, have been advised.

Despite these downsides, the sense of privacy and the beauty of the beach leave a lasting impression, making it an extremely recommendable destination for those looking to immerse themselves in nature. The enchantment of the beach and the warmth of the water seem to outweigh concerns about reaching the location and the lack of amenities.

Access to Praia Micondo by car:

- Depart from São Tomé city and drive on the main road, EN1 (Estrada Nacional 1), heading towards Angolares on the southeast coast.

- Continue past São João dos Angolares, if that's the road you are following. It's important to note that roads may not be clearly marked, and some beaches may not have direct road access.

- You may need to ask local residents for directions once you're in the approximate area, as even with a map or GPS, finding smaller, unmarked beaches can be challenging.

Precautions & Road Conditions

- As with travel to other remote areas of São Tomé, ensure that your vehicle has enough fuel, you're carrying sufficient water and food, and that you're prepared for minor emergencies, like a flat tire.- In rainy seasons, some roads may be less accessible due to mud or flooding, which makes travel more difficult and a 4x4 vehicle nearly essential.
