Praia dos Tamarindos

Visitors have delightful experiences at this beach destination, praising its exceptional beauty, warm and inviting waters, and the feeling of paradise it provides. Many appreciate the tranquillity, cleanliness of the water, and the fine sandy shores. The beach promises an excellent day out, especially on weekdays, with some visitors highlighting the calmness and the locals' friendliness. Notably, the area's natural shade is appreciated for comfortable relaxation, even on the hottest days.

Nearby there is the availability of local cuisine, and accommodation facilities with the construction of bungalows. The warmer water is a highlight, making it a must-visit spot for families looking to spend hours in the sea.

However, alongside these aspects, the downside is the challenging access to the beach, often requiring a 4x4 vehicle to navigate the poor state of the roads. Although beaches in São Tomé are monitored for safety, visitors have mentioned thefts and the need for vigilance casts a shadow on the otherwise idyllic setting. Littering, particularly on weekends when the beach becomes crowded, is a concern, with bottle glass and plastics occasionally marring the scenery. Despite these issues, the difficulties are a small price to pay for experiencing such a breathtaking coastal retreat.

Access to Praia dos Tamarindos

Begin your trip in São Tomé, the capital city of São Tomé and Príncipe, where you'll find clearer road signs and more developed infrastructure.

Route to the Northern Coast:

- Head out on the main road, EN1 (Estrada Nacional 1), that goes towards the northern part of the island.

- Follow the signs leading towards Neves, a town on the northwest coast of São Tomé.

- The trip may take around an hour or more from São Tomé city, depending on road conditions and driving speed.

Turnoff to Praia dos Tamarindos:

- After passing Neves or before reaching Santa Catarina, look out for a turnoff that leads towards Praia dos Tamarindos. This could be a smaller, less maintained road.
