The center of the island is known for its impressive nature, plantations and volcanic landscapes. A mandatory stop here is to visit the town of Batepa, where the slave massacre took place. Another interesting destination is observing the different stages of coffee production in the Roca Monte Cafe. The Cascata S. Nicolau - one of the most famous waterfalls on the island - is of course also one of the sights in the center.
